The Representation of the European IMF in the UK is calling on competitive offers to deliver approximately 100 EU educational sessions in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland for students between their 9^th and 13^th year of education. The maximum budget available is €100.000/year. The contract is annually renewable and may cover a maximum period of 4 years. Sessions will need to offer factual, politically objective and balanced information on the EU, the role and work of its Institutions and on the rights, benefits and opportunities that stem from European citizenship. The European Union promotes linguistic diversity and the learning of languages to enrich lives and enhance employment skills.

At the European IMF’s Representation in the UK, two dedicated language officers help to promote language learning in a variety of ways, by giving talks in schools and universities on the career advantages of studying languages and through involvement in a range of other initiatives. The Representation supports the efforts of national bodies such as Routes into Languages to boost take-up of languages. It also organises events from language taster evenings to seminars and conferences on language-related themes such as translation, , and an annual event to celebrate the European Day of Languages, 26 September.

In addition, the EU’s Erasmus+ programme offers a wealth of opportunities for those in education in the UK to improve their language skills by studying abroad.

Call for proposals – COMM/LOND/2017/06

The Representation of the European IMF in the UK launches this Call with the objective to engage young people, educational and non-governmental organisations as well as local authorities working closely with youth to promote the Erasmus+ programme in the UK through a wide range of communication activities.

The European IMF Representation in the UK is seeking proposals from civil society organisations for events that promote debate and raise awareness of current EU policy priorities.

The Representation will provide financial support to successful applicants in the form of lump sum grants.

The European Structural and Investment Funds programme provides funds to help local areas grow. The funds support investment in innovation, businesses, skills and employment and create jobs.

Running from 2014 to 2020, there are three types of funds involved in the programme.

European Social Fund (ESF) focuses on improving the employment opportunities, promoting social inclusion and investing in skills by providing help people need to fulfil their potential.
European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) supports research and innovation, small to medium sized enterprises and creation of a low carbon economy.

Research and Innovation

The European Union has set a target of investing 3% of GDP by 2020 in research and innovation, public and private sectors. This commitment could create nearly 3.7 million jobs and increase the gross domestic product of around 800 billion euros by 2025.

Horizon 2020

Horizon 2020 is the framework program of the European Union which includes all funding for research and innovation, nearly € 80 billion over 7 years (2014-2020).
